Property Hazebrouck
Residential
Stylish home in Hazebrouck, in collaboration with Atypik Intérieur
On the edge of the Crown Estates stands this understated villa in Vaassen. The volume rests like a long, wooden pavilion above ground level. Because of the difference in height, the entrance is placed in the basement and the living spaces look out over the farmlands through large glass facades. The bamboo facade and deep canopies soften the transition between inside and outside.
Commissioned by Courage Architects, we provided part of the lighting design and supplied the lighting. In the living room, a subtle LED strip runs in the cove around the façade, providing an even glow along ceiling and glass and making the view present even at night without glare. The effect is complemented by discreet spotlights for focused light at sitting and reading areas.
The kitchen is furnished with fixtures from Arkoslight that include a slim rail around the skylight. In this way, we combine daylight from above with flexible accent light on the worktop and cabinetry. Thanks to the Invisible Black Effect, the light sources in this remain virtually invisible and the focus is on the architecture and materialization, not on the fixtures themselves. In the general areas, we chose quiet, recessed spotlights that support the long sightlines and keep the light image clear. In the dressing room, compact recessed spotlights here provide a pleasant, practical light image without shadowing.
Result
Discreet lighting is installed around the exterior glass facades. This marks the edges of the house, guides walking routes and prevents reflection in the glass. The result is a warm and consistent light image that moves with the landscape during the day and maintains the light, serene atmosphere of the interior at night.
