Meet The Team: Harry Rijnders

Meet our light design manager Harry Rijnders. He is 64 and born in Amersfoort, but he lived in and around Rotterdam for many years. Eventually he ended up in Tilburg where he still lives. Harry is our Light Design Manager. He leads the team of light designers and develops complex lighting concepts.

A day as a light designer

Harry’s week is as follows: he works several days from home, he is on the road recording projects or giving presentations of his lighting design. In addition to working out lighting plans, he also consults on new and ongoing projects. Finally, he gives master classes to teach interior designers and installers about lighting. Harry has been part of team Lixero for six years now. He enjoys the variety of projects, lighting plans and giving courses. Within Lixero he is known for his meticulousness. Let that be very important in our field. He drinks his coffee black and sweet, preferably with a pastry.

A vacation man pur sang

Harry’s favorite vacation country is Italy. Not surprisingly, he enjoys Italian cuisine the most. Nevertheless, this year he will explore Austria by caravan. Harry is a true camping enthusiast. Besides traveling, he also enjoys cycling or hiking with his dogs. After reaching retirement, Harry wants to travel around Europe in a camper van.

Musical fingers

You can’t wake Harry up for anything. He is not a morning but also not an evening person, in fact Harry functions early in the morning and until late in the evening. In his spare time, Harry prefers to make music. He plays keyboard and is part of a cover band with which he performs regularly! He has a broad taste in music and you can come up with anything but rap, metal and music with less than 3 chords. His favorite movie is a classic, The Abyss. He has seen it several times but it never bores him. All of Stephen King’s books are among his favorite books. He used to want to be a professional musician, which he did for 10 years when he was young.

Harry doesn’t have a favorite holiday. In fact, he believes that you should always make your own party. What he would like to give everyone (which of course we agree with) is not to underestimate a well thought-out lighting plan because its quality determines the atmosphere, aesthetics, quality of the working environment and so much more!
