Travelers departing from Schiphol via Lounge 1 can now enter a brand new shopping experience. At this prominent spot at the airport, Lagardère Travel Retail opened the flagship store of the innovative retail concept ‘Today Duty Free’ in partnership with Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. A store of 1,500 square meters that responds to the changing needs of the modern traveler. Overview, convenience and experience come together here in one powerful formula.

We provided the lighting for this new eye-catcher. For a store environment where every product stands out and the routing remains clear, well thought-out lighting is essential. Therefore, we developed a flexible lighting concept that suits the different zones in the store. From perfume and cosmetics to spirits and confectionery.

Challenge

Together with Alphabet by Zambelis, we realized specially tailored profiles tailored to the shape and function of the space. For the shelf lighting on the sides, we chose our directional recessed spotlights that focus on the products without glare. Where the ceilings are lowered, we integrated compact recessed spotlights for a quiet look with adequate light output. And for the remaining ceilings, our own black track spotlights came into their own. Flexible, reliable and energy efficient. All track lighting is connected to the Stucchi track rail, which matches the high-quality design with its sleek finish.

Result
The result is a store that is not only logically laid out, but also feels pleasant. The lighting contributes to the luxurious look, inviting discovery while providing comfort. The collaboration was close and smooth, with a result we are proud of. Today Duty Free Schiphol sets a new standard in Schiphol and we were allowed to help build the light that makes that experience possible.
