Question

At Rousseau Chocolate, everything is about craftsmanship, seduction and quality. Not only in the products, but also in the shopping experience. At the new location in the Cityplaza shopping center in Nieuwegein, we were asked to collaborate on a lighting design that reinforces this story and, above all, is scalable to future locations.

Lighting plan for the formula

Rousseau is growing fast. With now 37 stores, they are building a recognizable and at the same time attractive formula. Light plays an essential role in this. Together with Rousseau we developed a lighting plan that is both visually attractive and technically well thought-out. The goal: a recognizable look and feel for each branch, without compromising on flexibility per location.

Challenge

In Nieuwegein, that plan has come fully to life. A combination of decorative lighting and directional spotlights provides warm base lighting, with room for accents on products, presentation tables and shelves. The color temperature is matched to the rich hues of chocolate, with fixtures that flatter the product without damaging it. Because again, chocolate and light are not an obvious combination.

Upon entering, the well-lit presentation tables immediately catch the eye. The lighting guides visitors through the store, so to speak. From the display window to the counter, your gaze is automatically drawn to the products. And that is exactly the intention, the lighting supports the routing and seduces.

Result

We are proud that this project allowed us to contribute to the further rollout of Rousseau’s formula. A formula that not only stands for beautiful chocolate, but also for a thoughtful shopping experience. Thanks to Rousseau for the pleasant cooperation and images.
